Uneven Texture

Uneven Skin Texture

Would you like to go back to the days of smooth, soft skin? The aging process leaves our skin feeling uneven, coarse, dull, and dry. Whether you’re dealing with wrinkles, fine lines, acne, acne scars, or sun damage, our aesthetic treatments can help. We want you to look and feel your best, and we can help you return to the days of soft, supple, vibrant skin.

Even skin tone and a smooth texture are two important qualities of skin health. Skin tone is determined by the amount of melanin or pigment we have. Skin texture refers to our skin’s surface condition. Ideally, skin should be soft with a smooth, even texture, but it’s not uncommon to have skin that feels coarse and irregular.

Frequently asked questions

Uneven skin texture not only feels unpleasant, it makes skin look dull. Sun exposure causes the breakdown of collagen and elastin that gives skin its smoothness and resiliency. Sun damage hurts skin texture slowly and is not highly visible right away. Exposure to too much sun will cause a person’s skin texture to become leathery and rough over time. Uneven skin texture is coarse, rough, dull, dry and often sun-damaged. How does your skin feel to the touch if you run your fingers across your face, your hands and your arms?

Aging is another common cause of irregular skin texture. With aging, surface skin cells aren’t shed as rapidly, causing dead skin cells to build up and skin to appear dry and blotchy.

Dry and dehydrated skin also affects its texture, causing skin to feel less velvety to the touch, making it hard to apply cosmetics smoothly

Healthy skin is beautiful skin – that’s a fact, and while most of us long for a luminous, vibrant complexion, we’re often plagued with skin issues that make this goal seem hard to attain. For many reasons, skin texture can become patchy, rough, flaky and bumpy. Uneven skin texture causes the skin to look dull and may be accompanied by enlarged pores. The fact is, while smooth, luminous skin may come naturally to a select few, maintenance is an important and necessary reality for most.

Skin texture and tone can be affected in some ways and by several different issues. A lackluster complexion is often the result of a buildup of dead skin cells in the uppermost layer of the skin. This causes the skin to scatter light instead of evenly reflecting it, resulting in a loss of radiance.

In areas of the face where oil production is heavier, these dead skin cells can congest pores, resulting in comedones (blackheads or whiteheads) and ultimately a bumpy and irregular texture. Sun exposure and aging can also affect texture, as cell turnover slows with age and damage becomes more obvious than ever.

Drink Water

Improving skin texture can be as simple as staying hydrated throughout the day since that moisture helps to make skin look and feel smoother. Moisturized skin also tends to lessen the appearance of dullness, which is a common symptom of uneven texture.

Exfoliate

It’s important to wash away those dead skin cells once per week with an exfoliant, which can be done either with a sonic brush or an everyday washcloth. The key is to find an exfoliant that isn’t too harsh on your skin since abrasive exfoliants can cause micro-tears and excess oil production. This option has natural corn beads and grape pulp to clean and moisturize.

Use a Chemical Peel

If you’re not sure about making an appointment for a chemical peel with just yet, try one at home that has the ingredients you need to remove dead skin and exfoliate. We have some Cosmeceutical products that can help with lifting away dead skin cells. Start using these once a week and adjust if necessary.

Start Using Oils

Besides their soothing scent and consistency, oil-based products are ideal for regulating sebum production in the skin – thus making it supple, yet balanced and ultra-smooth. If you require balance or extra moisture, try incorporating face oils into your nightly skincare regimen and watch as you wake up with baby-soft skin.

We can’t go back in time and wear more sunscreen, stop smoking, or start washing our faces regularly. So, whether your cursed with a dry, flaky forehead and an oily chin, you’ve been fighting against acne scars your whole life, or you’re suddenly swimming in melasma and wrinkles, soft, supple, luxurious skin is still within reach with one or more of the following treatments:

1. Microdermabrasion

Arguably the number one treatment for improving skin texture and tone, microdermabrasion boosts collagen production and cell regeneration by removing the top layer of dead, damaged skin to reveal the smoother, new skin beneath. Microdermabrasion also minimizes pore size and improves scarring – making your skin smoother and brighter overall. Over and over again, microdermabrasion is praised for its effectiveness, but while it’s quick and noninvasive, the results aren’t instantaneous – depending on your skin and the issues you’re trying to correct, you may need several treatments to achieve your desired results. We have several Medical Facials that incorporate some form of Microdermabrasion such as Hydrafacial, and SilkPeel Dermalinfusion.

2. Laser Treatments

Laser Treatments are often dubbed “skin resurfacing” which means that laser treatments remove the top, damaged layer of skin. Like microdermabrasion, laser treatments encourage healthy skin growth and promote collagen production. Ultimately, laser treatments retexture your skin, removing lines, wrinkles, and minor scars as well as correcting sun damage, discolouration, and tightening up limp or sagging skin. This is a better alternative if your condition isn’t just superficial and you require a more in depth treatment

3. Chemical Peels

At LSG, we customize our chemical peels using medical-grade products to your specific skin type and its tone and texture issues. Both your skin type and your goals will determine the depth of your treatment. Again, the basic result of the treatment is the same as microdermabrasion and laser – a peel removes the top layer of dead skin using a solution, but the dead skin will peel away gradually after the procedure to reveal a smoother, more even complexion. Chemical peels tighten, brighten, and smooth the skin.

4. Daily Advanced Skin Care

While our treatments can offer quicker results, a daily advanced skin care regime is also an effective treatment – but you must be diligent and consistent about it and you must use high quality products. On its own or in combination with one of our treatments, taking good care of your skin is essential to fighting the impact of a lifetime of UV rays and aging. We’ve chosen SkinCeuticals as our skin care brand because they’re committed to the highest, medical-grade formulation standards (they’re products win awards repeatedly). At your consultation, we can work with you to determine the best SkinCeuticals products to help you fix your skin’s texture and tone.

1. Incorporate an exfoliating cleanser into your routine

Whether it is a physical or chemical exfoliator, cosmeceutical ingredients found in our medical grade skin care help remove dead cells from the surface of the skin to brighten the complexion and improve texture.

Sometimes a gentle chemical exfoliation over physical exfoliation is great because it creates less friction and inflammation and it has more uniform results such as Retexturing Activator by SkinCeuticals.

We know that skin hydration levels start to decline during the second half of the day, leading to dryness, flaking, and rough texture. Stick to moisturizers that contain calming ingredients like niacinamide to even tone and texture.

Similar to your face, your body skin’s texture can suffer if it isn’t properly moisturized.

Retinol is perhaps the best-studied ingredient we have to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. We recommend a retinol serum in the evening before bed to help stimulate cell turnover and collagen production while you sleep.

Chronic exposure to the sun can cause many issues, including dullness, uneven tone, fine lines, textural changes, and an increased risk of skin cancer, which is why sunscreen is so important.

Before you can learn how to treat uneven skin, you first need to determine your unique skin type. Skincare routines must be tailored around your skin, otherwise you run the risk of worsening your complexion concerns by making your face unduly dry, oily, irritated or blemished. Generally speaking, there are four types of skin:

  1. Dry skin: Dry skin produces less sebum (a sticky substance generally known as oil) than normal skin. As such, the skin lacks the lipids it needs to retain moisture and shield against environmental influences.
  2. Combination skin: As the name suggests, those with this skin type have a combination of dry, oily, and normal areas within the complexion. The skin type will generally vary between the T-zone (forehead, chin, and nose) and the cheeks.
  3. Normal skin: “Normal” is the term used to describe well-balanced skin. The T-zone might be a bit oily, but overall the sebum and moisture are balanced in ratio.
  4. Oily skin: Oily Skin has a heightened sebum production. The face may appear excessively shiny, with pores frequently enlarged and visible.

Methods we use to treat

A celeb-fave, PicoWay Resolve has quickly become a go-to treatment for correcting fine lines and wrinkles, and improving skin’s texture and tone. The precise heat of the laser stimulates collagen production without damaging surrounding tissues. With virtually no downtime, it’s also more comfortable than more ablative lasers. If you struggle with hard-to-treat melasma, you know this pesky condition cannot be prevented. PicoWay Resolve is one of the fastest and most effective melasma treatments available, often boasting results in just a few treatments.
Brought to you by Syneron Candela, PicoWay uses ultra-short, picosecond (trillionths of a second) pulses of energy to target a broad range of skin concerns, while leaving surrounding skin untouched. Because it emits less heat than traditional lasers, PicoWay provides a more comfortable treatment with fast results and virtually no downtime; after treatment, patients may experience temporary discolouration or reddening of the skin surrounding the treatment site.
As we age and our skin matures, fine lines, wrinkles, uneven textures and tone bring about dull, discoloured looking skin that lacks vibrancy. However, advancements in dermal filler products and micro-needling applicators are making preventing premature aging and addressing the signs that already exist an affordable, quick and easy process. At LSG we take microneedling to a whole new level with our innovative Beauty Booster treatment. Our Beauty Booster procedure is designed to improve hydration, revitalize the skin, reduce laxity and provide the patient with skin that has a radiant glow. We accomplish this using the revolutionary Vital Injector 2 (V2) device. The Beauty Booster treatment provides patients with two treatments in one: A Microneedling procedure in conjunction with a Dermal Filler treatment. During this procedure, our Cosmetic Specialists use the V2 injector device to perform multiple micro injections across the areas that are being treated at the same time.
In the world of earthy purifying wonders, charcoal is right up there with clay and mud. It’s been called the holy-grail ingredient and has been purging impurities since ancient times, thanks to its ability to attach to and absorb toxins. In the past few years, charcoal has exploded in the world of skincare. Activated charcoal draws bacteria, poisons, chemicals, dirt and other micro-particles to the surface of skin, helping you to achieve a flawless complexion and fight acne. V Carbon Peel is a unique non-invasive treatment uses activated charcoal for an exfoliating and purifying effect that enhances facial lifting by penetrating deep into the pores. It’s the ideal system for tightening dilated pores and removing dead cells from the superficial epidermal layer for an overall new look. V-Carbon allows to make medium or deep peeling treatments depending on the patient’s needs.
Carbon Laser Peels are the go-to treatment for celebrities around the world. After originating in South Korea and being embraced worldwide, this treatment instantly produces a “wow factor.” Carbon laser facial is the most advanced treatment for treating acne, pore refinement, dull complexion and pigmentation. At LSG we use the PicoWay Laser, which is the world’s most advanced laser for skin rejuvenation. The PicoWay is passed over the skin using a layer of liquid carbon that penetrates deep into the pores. Laser destroys the carbon taking dead skin cells, contaminates and oils with it. Treatment is very safe, completely painless and highly beneficial with minimal to zero downtime.
Fraxel laser is one of the best lasers in the World. This laser can be used to treat skin pigmentation, wrinkles, acne scars and sun damage. It will give your skin a whole new texture and brilliance to it. Fraxel laser is gentle on your skin, with a recovery rate of 4-6 days. We recommend 1-5 treatments depending on your skin condition. Fraxel is considered a ‘fractional treatment’, meaning that it creates hundreds of deep columns through the skin called microscopic treatment zones. This means only a percentage of the skin is affected during each laser pass, reducing healing time, promoting natural regeneration of collagen, and rejuvenating skin cells. Due to the fact that Fraxel laser works through non-ablative resurfacing, the epidermis, or top layer of skin, is not directly impacted. As a result, patients can expect faster healing after treatment.
Resurfacing refers to the ablation or removal of skin tissue so new healthy tissue can be formed. Fractional skin resurfacing means that specific small areas, a fraction of the skin’s surface, are removed in a precise pattern leaving the surrounding healthy skin intact. The small sections of untreated healthy skin that are left intact facilitate rapid healing of the treated areas, resulting in very high patient satisfaction. EndyMed’s unique 3DEEP® technology signifies a new era in anti-wrinkle and skin tightening technology. It is clinically proven to deliver tighter, firmer, lifted skin, safely and effectively with little to no downtime.
If you’re looking for a natural way to improve your skin’s texture, elasticity, fine lines and wrinkles, look no further than Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) for facial rejuvenation. PRP works with your body’s natural healing processes to repair and rejuvenate the skin. The treatment involves the extraction of a small sample of your blood, which is then placed in a centrifuge to separate your red blood cells from your plasma. Using our U225 meso-gun, the concentrated Platelet-Rich Plasma is injected into the areas being treated. Our plasma contains platelets that, once injected, release essential growth factors that promote collagen production, healing, and tissue repair, among other things. The treatment immediately gets to work rejuvenating the treated areas and producing a more radiant appearance.

The concept behind dermaplaning is pretty simple and is the same as shaving, which you do regularly on your own. The difference is that dermaplaning, instead of using a normal blade that you buy from the store, uses a sterile, surgical-grade blade, aimed at a 45-degree angle, to slowly and carefully drag it across the surface of your skin. The process removes all your dead cells, scar tissue, hair, and other debris found on your skin. Also, the whole process is carried out by a trained professional in a clinic or office. After your dermaplaning treatment, you will notice that you have achieved glowing, rejuvenated, and ultrasmooth skin.

After INTENSIF radio-frequency treatment, there is no need to hide in the house for weeks. Over time, your skin will begin to look more youthful as wrinkles diminish.
Mesotherapy is a convenient, safe and relatively painless non‐surgical procedure. It has found its way into the aesthetic world and is employed for various indications such as lipolysis, skin rejuvenation, pigmentation and hair loss. The procedure involves delivery of mixture or cocktail of different compounds (plant extracts, nutrients, enzymes, homeopathic agents, pharmaceuticals, vitamins, amino acids and other bioactive substances) into the dermis or subcutaneous layer with our U225 Meso-gun. A painless procedure that does not require numbing and great adjunct to almost all of our other services.
