Plexr (or plasma soft surgery) is a non-surgical treatment used to lift the eyes (blepharoplasty), remove excess skin such as eye bags, tighten the skin and erase scars, moles, skin tags, and other unwanted features (see below for before and after pictures). Unlike surgical treatments for these problems, Plexr does not require a general anesthetic and has little to no downtime.
There are three options for Plexr: ablative, semi-ablative, and non-ablative. These treatments vary in the layer of skin targeted. For example, ablative Plexr targets the top layer of skin to remove damaged skin, while non-ablative Plexr focuses on deeper layers of skin to plump the skin without affecting the top layer. Semi-ablative Plexr works somewhere in the middle, where both deeper layers as well as the top layer of skin are targeted by the treatment.
The treatment uses plasma – the fourth state of matter after solid, liquid and gas and is performed using wireless handheld devices which are manufactured in Italy.
Laser Spa Group was one of the first clinics in Canada to bring in PlexR and give patients an alternative to blepharoplasty (surgical eyelid lift) without cutting the skin. For men and women of all ages, eye rejuvenation is one of the most popular and effective procedures for restoring the freshness of one’s look. Over the years, you may notice that it is more difficult to apply eye makeup, or that you continue to look tired even after Botox injections. That is because the skin around the eye has become saggy, more lax and crepey.
Plexr, a revolutionary technology that has been in use for over 12 years in Italy, gained Health Canada Approval in August 2021. Canada was the 53rd country to approve its use as a non-surgical way to treat the eyelid and other skin laxity. The device ionizes the air present between its terminal and the skin. This generates a micro-plasma beam (electrical arc) that precisely stimulates the contraction, shortening and tightening of skin fibres through sublimation. Although its main application is to tighten the skin of the upper and lower eyelids; Plexr is an extremely versatile device that is used for different clinical treatments, both aesthetic and curative.
The plasma beam generated by Plexr is the bridge between non-surgical and surgical procedures.
We offer three different options of Plexr treatment: Plexr Soft Surgery, Plexr Cat Scratch and Plexr Shower. Plexr being the more aggressive treatment and Plexr Shower being a less intense application for anti-aging treatments.
HOW DOES PLEXR WORK?
Plexr uses pure plasma energy to resurface and rejuvenate skin. The Plexr forms plasma (by ionizing atmospheric gases) to stimulate instant contraction and tightening of fibers. It makes tiny dots in the skin to sublimate (change from solid to gas) the superficial skin cells. The Plexr can also be used to remove benigh skin irregulatrities such as skin tags, moles and warts etc.

The Two Main Anti-Aging Mechanisms of Action
We can divide anti-aging methods into two main categories:
1 Tissue bio-stimulation using non-invasive energy
The goal is to activate fibroblast cells for new collagen formation. This process is usually very safe and without complications or after-operation inflammations. Plexr Shower is classified in this category.
2 Tissue regeneration using ablative energy
Removing aged/dysfunctional tissue partially by causing a controlled wound. This will activate the healing process. Tissue healing (Wound healing) refers to the body’s replacement of destroyed tissue with living tissue. Here we use higher energy, focus, and concentration. PLEXR plasma skin removal and tissue coagulation are examples of this method.
ABLATIVE LASER PRINCIPLE
Laser works based on photo-thermo-vaporization. In this process, the tissue absorbs the light energy of the laser and turns it to heat. The heat raises the intracellular water temperature to the boiling point. Therefore the water turns to steam inside the cell. Steam has more volume and this blow up the cell we call vaporization. In this process, the tissue temperature can raise up to 350 degrees.
PLASMA PRINCIPLE
We also offer two other forms of Plexr Treatments. Plexr Cat Resurfacing (semi-ablative) and Plexr Shower (non-ablative)
Plexr Shower (Non-Ablative)
Shower treatments are nano-ablative causing micro openings to allow skin treatments in to promote collagen re-building. No downtime is seen with this treatment and recovery feels like a sunburn. Results are seen over 2 months which is why returning to office is important to see the before and after pictures. This treatment replaces the need for microneedling, dermal fillers and botulinum toxin injections.
Plexr Shower Facial is a non-ablative treatment for wrinkle-reduction, large pores, acne, and skin rejuvenation treatment. It uses a specific triangle tip to deliver the treatment, which creates an instant firming and lifting effect. It removes dead skin cells and provides biostimulation for skin rejuvenation. The best part is that the Plexr Shower Facial has NO DOWNTIME.
The Plexr tip creates a big bolt of plasma that focuses the energy on one spot right underneath the tip. This triangle tip spreads the energy along the length into many nano plasma bolts. Therefore, instead of sublimating and coagulating the skin, the Plexr shower creates nano Plexr “spots” for obvious skin improvement.
Plasma Shower treatment can also be used for a range of other purposes:
- Skin tightening
- Pigmentation treatment
- Improving complexion/skin tone
- Treating lines and wrinkles
- Non-ablative lifting and regeneration

Plexr Cat Resurfacing (Semi-Ablative)
Semi-ablative treatments that resemble cat scratches on area treated that tightens skin by promoting elastin production. The downtime for this is 3-5 days with immediate results and continued results over 2 months. The treatment lasts up to a year. All treatments use the Act O Feel* line. Replaces the need for chemical peels, laser treatments, or dermal fillers. Numbing cream is used
- Full Face Resurfacing: These treatments are used to help with deep wrinkles and lifting sagging areas on the entire face.
- Mid Face Resurfacing: This treatment helps the upper or lower section of the face to remove deep wrinkles and lift sagging areas of the face.

Plasma is the 4th state of matter and is created when gases in the air are ionized with the help of a special device. The Plexr device creates a small electrical arc that precisely heats the skin and causes superficial sublimation or vaporization (turning solid tissue into a gas). The skin retracts and tightens instantly, while collagen production in the dermis increases over the course of a few months.
Since the outcome of the procedure depends on your own body’s response to the energy delivered, results can vary from person to person. Depending on severity and your desired result, 1-3 sessions will be required, with an estimated 30% reduction with each session.
Plexr is an impressive alternative to surgery for mild to moderate loose skin. Often 3 sessions may be required, which are performed every 6-8 weeks. Perfect for people who want a gradual, scarless correction. While surgery is still the “gold standard” for patients with severe laxity.
Anesthesia is achieved with either a topical cream, or a nerve block. Most patients feel some heat and minimal pain. At the end of the session, there will be small black/brown combustion points in the treated area which may be sore.
Following treatment, the eyelids swell temporarily. This settles in 48-72 hours and may require use of anti-inflammatories, cold compress and antihistamines. The treated area will be quite red and have discomfort for up to 5 days.
The carbon crusts take 4 to 10 days to fall off. DO NOT scratch, pick or rub the treated areas as a pinkish discoloration or hypo/hyperpigmentation could persist.
You will be required to use Oxygenetix Mineral Foundation on the treated areas for one month to aid with healing process.
Treatment area/dots can be red, brown or black in color as carbon crsuts form immediately. Avoid touching and pickingat these crusts for up to 7 days, except to camouflage them with oxygenating post-procedure foundation. We recommend Oxygenetix for this purpose. Allow the carbon crusts to fall off naturally.
Rare side-effects include infection, scarring and a temporary change in skin pigmentation. You can help minimize the likelihood of these side-effects by following our post-treatment care advice.
The treatment is non-invasive, reliable, easy to implement and safe.
It gives the same results as traditional surgery but without the scarring and unnecessary risk. Over 3000 Plexr devices have been sold worldwide, and only providers with specialized training are authorized to perform Plexr treatments.
We apply a topical numbing cream to the area to be treated for 60 minutes. This helps to minimize the risk of discomfort during the procedure. A standard session usually lasts between 1-2 hours.
The number of sessions depends on what area/skin concern is being treated, client’s goals, and your physiological response to the treatment. After assessing the results in the first 2 to 4 weeks after the procedure, you may need further treatment to achieve optimal results. The minimum interval between follow-up treatments is usually between 6 and 8 weeks. The cost of Plexr treatment is significantly less than traditional invasive surgery counterparts.
