BBL Acne Treatment

SCITON BROAD BAND LIGHT (BBL™) Acne Therapy

Broad Band Light (BBL™) has now proven to be helpful in the treatment of acne. In many cases, this offers an alternative to oral medications such as Accutane or long-term antibiotics. The shorter wavelengths of BBL™, in the blue-light spectrum, attack p-acne bacteria on the surface and in the sebaceous gland. Along with a home skincare program designed for acne-prone skin, you can experience significant long-term clearance.

The bacteria responsible for acne, P. Acne, can be killed by either a light treatment with blue light or deeper bacteria can also be treated by lasers which can travel deeper into the pores. The treatment is simple, quick, pain-free, and requires no down-time. It is appropriate for mild to moderate acne. Our BBL is especially effective in women who experience localized acne on their chin with their hormonal cycle, adult hormonal acne for men and women, as well as teenage acne.

At Laser Spa Group, we may suggest combining other treatments for best results. We would recommend a weekly routine of blue light BBL treatments combined with any of these additional services: Chemical Peels, Medical Facials, and/or Medical Grade Skin Care Products such as PRIORI and SkinCeuticals (Cosmeceuticals), and/or the SilkPeel Dermalinfusion, and the Clairsonic Pro Brush can help augment the treatment by exfoliating the dead, outer sloughed skin which blocks the pores. The P. Acnes often resides in these blocked pores, so unclogging the pores can be extremely beneficial.

Acne occurs when hair follicle pores are blocked by natural components of the skin. This is the root of most acne lesions. Once blocked, inflammation and bacteria overgrowth occur leading to red bumps and cysts in the skin. Sebaceous or sweat glands of the skin can contribute excessive amounts of sebum into the plugged follicle increasing inflammation. Hormones can also play a role. Most teenagers are affected to some degree. Adults, often, get acne for the first time while others have suffered since the teenage years. Acne is not life-threatening, but it can cause physical disfigurement (scarring) and emotional distress if not treated early.

Treatment for acne varies depending on which of the above factors is causing your acne. This is different for each person. On average, results are visible in two to eight weeks with topical cosmeceuticals such as our Skinceuticals medical grade skin care lines.

Broad Based Light (BBL™) has now proven to be helpful in the treatment of acne. Microdermabrasion, Silkpeel Dermalinfusion, Medical Facials and chemical peels also offer alternative ways to remove persistent and stubborn acne.

Forever Clear BBL is a cutting-edge acne treatment that uses the power of light to comfortably and effectively clear acne without creams or medicine. BBL is the world’s most powerful IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) device, delivering light energy deep into your skin to stimulate and regenerate your skin cells, leaving you with clear, healthy, radiant skin.

Our three step process is painless:

1. Skin is first treated with BLUE BBL light to eliminate acne-causing bacteria at its source, deep down in the pores.

2. Skin is then treated with YELLOW BBL light to reduce the inflammation and acne-associated redness to give you healthy, luminous, smooth skin.

3. For added benefit, the skin is then treated with SkinTyte II™ using INFRA-RED light in rapid, gentle pulses to initiate the body’s natural healing process.

For added benefit, we support your results with a personalized plan often including prescription treatments and a skincare regimen to keep your skin clear.

A thin film of gel is applied to your skin, followed by the BBL treatment. Most patients have minimal discomfort. Treatment sessions last 30 minutes.

After treatment is completed, some may experience temporary reddening and minimal swelling of the acne, and surrounding skin for 1-2 days. This is transient and usually associated with minimal to no downtime. Makeup can be applied immediately, if desired.

To achieve maximum improvement with BBL™, a series of 8 weekly treatments is most effective. Most patients will need periodic touch up treatments ranging from monthly to every 6 months, depending on your acne type and severity. Sciton BBL Acne treatments, combined with a professional home skincare program will give you significant long-term clearance and confidence from acne break-outs. For further improvement to old acne scars, we also offer resurfacing treatments. Resurfacing lasers drill tiny holes into the skin. These holes will rebuild with new, healthy columns of supportive tissue, lessening the appearance of the scars. We will be happy to show you before and after pictures at your consultation.

Don’t let unpredictable acne breaks-outs spoil that awesome photo-op, or cause distress in social engagements. Stop being the victim of acne and become the victor! Banish your acne and improve your life with professional skin care from the experts at Laser Spa Group.

Acne treatment varies in cost based on the extent of treatment and the number of sessions undergone to achieve maximum results. We may also recommend additional facial rejuvenation treatments which will alter the price.

During the consultation, our medical aesthetician will examine the patient’s skin and specific areas of concern. The purpose of the consultation is to determine whether or not the patient is a good candidate for the treatment, or they would be better suited for an alternative facial rejuvenation treatment. Once it is verified that the patient is an ideal candidate, the practitioner will then design a personalized treatment plan specific to meet the patient’s individual needs. Some patients only need one treatment session to accomplish their desired look, while others with more concerns may require multiple treatments. The exact amount of recommended treatments to obtain optimal results will be advised during the consultation. The provider will go over any preparatory treatment care plans as well as advise the patient on what to expect the day of treatment. Consultations can be arranged by calling 905-631-5956, online chat, email, or with our online booking system.
