  • Telangiectasia

Our Candela GentleMax Pro Plus utilizes two energy sources, the Alexandrite and Nd: Yag lasers. They can be synchronised to work independently or simultaneously to tailor treatment according to your unique skin type, hair colour and thickness, for safety and great results.

Alexandrite is known as the gold standard for treating light skin types and the Nd: Yag is tailored for darker skin types without risking hyperpigmentation or ineffective results.

Laser hair removal works by targeting the melanin (dark pigment) in the hair without affecting the surrounding skin

Laser Hair Reduction For Fair To Medium Skin Tones

Alexandrite lasers effectively remove hair from the face and body. They have a specific wavelength of light, and are non-ablative so will destroy hair at the root but leave the surface of the skin untouched.

The Alexandrite laser can be used to target large areas of unwanted hair as it has an adjustable spot size, and will require a course of sessions to achieve the most lasting results.

Laser Hair Reduction For Dark Skin Tones

The Nd:YAG laser (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet laser), has a particularly long wavelength, which causes it to bypass the top layer of skin and head straight for underlying tissues, where many skin problems begin.

It’s particularly useful for hair removal-and indeed vein treatment-for people with darker skin as the laser is minimally absorbed by the skin’s melanin.

Like the Alexandrite laser, it is also non ablative and can be used to treat all body and facial hair issues.

After your first treatment of hair removal, your targeted hair will fall out two weeks post-treatment and will grow back weaker. After a total of 4 to 8 weeks depending on the area being treated post-treatment, when the hair has grown back enough for the laser to detect, another session will target the regrown hair, it will fall out again after two weeks and grow back even weaker and more sparce than before, this will continue until hair fails to grow back.

Before and After

Frequently Asked Questions

Patients stay comfortable during treatments and achieve ultimate outcomes with dependable epidermal protection. Candela GentleMax Pro Plus incorporates the Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) cooling system to protect the patients’ skin no matter how fast the laser is fired.

An important note before each GentleMax Pro Plus laser hair removal treatment is to shave the targeted area(s) 24-48 hours before your appointment. Avoid the use of any lotions, deodorant, makeup, or cosmetics on the skin to allow for better results.

The number of GentleMax Pro Plus laser hair removal treatments you will require depends on the area to be treated, the coarseness of the hair as well as the pigment of the skin and hair. Treatment areas such as the legs, bikini area and under-arms could take 6 or more GentleMax Pro Plus laser hair removal treatments. Other more hormonal areas could require 8 or more treatments. Candela GentleMax Pro Plus Laser hair removal interval sessions are usually 4-6 weeks apart to effectively reduce hair growth. During your GentleMax Pro Plus laser hair removal journey at LSG, your laser technician will keep you updated on how many more sessions you will need and your ongoing  progress.

Along with GentleMax Pro Plus being popular for laser hair removal, the GentleMax Pro plus also offers the benefit and versatility of using top of the line technology to effectively treat:

● Vascular lesions
● Diffuse redness and facial vessels
● Spider and leg veins
● Angiomas and hemangiomas
● Nail fungus

The most common side effects of laser hair removal include:

Skin irritation: There may be temporary discomfort, redness and swelling evident in the treatment area.  Any signs and symptoms typically disappear within several hours. To reduce any discomfort, apply ice to the treated area. If you have a skin reaction immediately after laser hair removal, immediately contact our office.

Pigment changes: Laser hair removal can potentially darken or lighten the affected treatment area. These pigment changes can be temporary or even permanent. Skin lightening primarily affects those who don’t avoid sun exposure before or after treatment and those who have darker skin.

Prevention is key! In order to minimize the risk of pigment changes, ensure to avoid sunlight exposure after laser hair removal and between scheduled treatments. Additionally, avoid tanning beds for a minimum of six weeks. Use a broad-spectrum 30 SPF sunscreen daily.

Rarely, laser hair removal can also cause blistering, crusting, scarring or skin texture changes. Other rare side effects include graying of treated hair or paradoxical hair growth around the treated areas, particularly on darker skin types.

No two clients are the same in terms of being able to give them a definite number of necessary GentleMax Pro Plus laser hair removal treatments. It depends on: your age, hair type and the area to be treated. Some clients require 6 treatments, whereas others may need 9 or more. On average, about 80 per cent hair reduction is achieved after 6 visits. You should also know: there may be reduced hair growth for several weeks after treatment. Then you’ll experience new regrowth in certain areas and during this stage, another treatment is required.

You should avoid electrolysis, waxing, or plucking, six weeks prior to your laser hair removal treatment. Your skin should be clean-shaven and clean from creams, oils, makeup, self-tanning products, or topical anesthetics, on the day of your hair removal treatment.

Prior to and immediately after your treatment, you should avoid tanning beds or sunlight and apply sunscreen (SPF 30 or above)

After your GentleMax Pro Plus laser hair removal treatment, you may experience redness or swelling on the area treated that typically goes away after a few hours, depending on the reaction. Within several hours or days after the treatment, these side effects will vanish. After each session:

● Avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks following the treatment
● Every day, apply sunscreen with SPF30 to the treated area(s)
● Avoid sauna use, hot baths/showers or active exercise until the redness is gone
● Do not scratch, tweeze, wax, or pluck the area. Shaving only!
