Lightsheer Laser Hair Removal

A LASER produces a beam of highly concentrated light. The light emitted by the LightSheer Diode laser is well absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles.

You should expect to need 6 treatments per area to maximize laser hair removal, and we encourage you to take advantage of our free consultations, so that we can create a custom plan for you. People come in different shapes and sizes and have different types of hair, and we will discount your services accordingly. If you require more than 6 treatments, we can do any additional treatments at a discounted ‘maintenance’ or ‘touch-up’ price. Also, if you’ve had laser hair removal done elsewhere and were dissatisfied with the results, we may be able to give you an additional discount.

Please remember that the experience of the technician also plays a big part in how many treatments are needed. If your technician misses hair follicles during a treatment, you will have to pay again to have those hairs removed. We have been in thee industry for 25 years which gives us an advantage over other technicians in the area. We have also done research of the lasers available today, and found the LightSheer Diode Laser to be the most effective and efficient. The LightSheer Laser is the gold standard in laser technology from a company that is a leader in their field. Many lasers used by other companies are much less expensive to purchase or utilize old technology which ends up costing the consumer more because it can take twice as many treatments per area for complete results.

During the procedure, the laser pulses for a fraction of a second, long enough to heat up the hair and significantly impede the follicle’s ability to re-grow. This process also treats numerous hair follicles simultaneously. Therefore, LightSheer is appropriate for treating even the largest areas of the body, and all skin types both quickly and effectively.

Unwanted facial and body hair is a common problem that can be a source of distress for both men and women. We will provide advice for consumers here when considering the latest laser hair removal procedures.

Excessive hair growth is classified as either hypertrichosis or hirsuitism. Hypertrichosis is the excessive growth of body hair in a normal or abnormal pattern. It may be genetic or due to medications, hormones, malnutrition, tumors or metabolic problems. Hirsuitism is excessive growth of hair in women, but in a male pattern — such as the beard, mustache or lower abdomen and may be due to hormonal problems, medications, tumors or heredity.

Many treatment options for managing unwanted hair have been available over the years, such as shaving and waxing, but these methods are temporary and offer varying degrees of success.

Before and After (gallery)

The main difference between the two is that Lightsheer Laser hair removal emits a single, precise wavelength. It’s optimized for maximum follicle absorption, meaning that fewer treatments are needed for effective results as opposed to the number of treatments required when using IPL.

IPL uses a broad spectrum of high-intensity light, sending out multiple wavelengths. When receiving IPL, only some of these wavelengths actually reach the hair follicle. This means that more treatments are required to get the same results as Lightsheer Laser hair removal.

Technology

Lasers and light sources are used to safely and effectively treat larger areas of unwanted hair with minimal patient discomfort and fewer complications than other hair-reduction methods.

Most lasers are equipped with a cooling device that reduces the discomfort from the laser light and also protects the top layer of skin from excessive heating and potential changes in pigmentation.

Laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) devices send specific concentrated beams of light through the skin that are absorbed by the melanin (dark) pigment present in the hair follicle shafts.

Because hair grows in cycles, repeated treatments are necessary to destroy the hair follicles.

Traditional methods for hair removal included plucking, shaving, waxing, electrolysis and chemical depilatories. Some are painful, some are messy, all of them are time consuming and costly.

LightSheer® is a permanent hair reduction solution based on clinically proven diode laser technology. LightSheer is comfortable and effective. It features two laser hair removal technologies:

  • High-Speed Vacuum Assisted technology for large treatment areas, requiring no prep and no gel
  • ChillTip™ Sapphire integrated cooling for smaller more delicate treatment area
LightSheer® Laser Hair Removal Solution
LightSheer® uses a state-of-the-art diode laser handpiece with either 805 nm or 1060nm wavelength which allows a tailored treatment for all skin types. A laser pulse targets and damages the hair follicle while the surrounding tissue remains unharmed. The LightSheer® allows your treatment provider to customize the treatment for your skin type, hair type and lifestyle by utilizing 2 different handpieces and 2 different wavelengths.

LightSheer laser hair removal treatments are not suitable for everyone and carry some risks. LightSheer is not suitable when you have active infections or inflammations, viral/fungal/bacterial disease, active cold sores, open lacerations or abrasions in the treatment area.

Risks may include: change in skin pigmentation, changes to skin texture, or burns. Be sure to consult with your treatment provider before choosing this treatment.

High-Speed Vacuum Assisted Technology

High-Speed technology incorporates suction to elevate and stretch the skin. In doing so, the laser achieves maximum absorption into hair follicles while covering a large area, shortening treatment time and reducing the sensation of heat.

With High-Speed technology vacuum gently draws skin into the handpiece, stretching  it thin and pulling  the target closer to the energy source

ChillTip™ Integrated Cooling Technology

ChillTip™ technology uses a proprietary integrated Sapphire cooling system that momentarily numbs the skin while compressing the handpiece to the skin rotating the hair follicle for better energy absorption.

With ChillTip™,  the skin is cooled  before and during treatment. It is then compressed and the laser beam is directed  to the skin.

If your technician misses hair follicles during a treatment, you will have to pay again to have those hairs removed. We have been in the hair removal field for over 20 years which is an advantage over other clinics in the area. We also feel that the LightSheer Diode Laser to be the most effective and efficient. Multiple treatments are required to achieve permanent hair reduction. This is due to the increased effect of the laser on hair in the early growth stage (anagen). Not all the hairs are in the same phase at a given time.

The percentage of hairs removed per session varies by location on the body, with thinner-skinned areas (e.g., armpits and bikini area) generally responding better than thick-skinned areas (e.g., back and chin).

About 10 percent to 20-25 percent reduction in hair growth can be expected with each treatment.

Treatments are repeated every four to eight weeks, depending on body area. 4 for the face and 8 for the body. There is NO benefit to earlier treatment.

The hair that regrows following treatment tends to be lighter and finer in texture.

Patients are instructed to avoid sun exposure and to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 30 or higher following the procedure.

In general, 6 or more treatments are required to achieve permanent hair growth reduction.

Darker hair responds best to laser hair removal.

Lighter-colored hair is least responsive, but topical medications can be used in an effort to increase effectiveness.

Patients seeking laser hair removal are advised to avoid tanning or sunless tanners and to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen for up to six weeks prior to treatment.

The most common side effects include discomfort, swelling, and redness that last one to three days.

Other possible side effects include blistering, herpes simplex outbreaks, bacterial infections and temporary skin lightening or darkening (especially in patients with skin of color or those with tans).

The appearance of the treated area following treatment varies from patient to patient, depending on the characteristics of the patient and treatment given. During the treatment, some hairs will shed from the follicle immediately, while the remaining will shed in the following weeks. Transient redness and swelling around the hair follicle may appear immediately after the treatment, but are in fact, positive results indicating the follicle’s response to the treatment.

Following the treatment, you will be provided with guidelines, namely in terms of sun exposure.
