Posted @withrepost • @consultant_clinic We get asked for “top lip only” filler allll the time and the below is why we always say no. Every one thinks that by adding filler to a much smaller (or indeed any) top lip.. it will balance it and create lift in some way. Actually it does the reverse in the majority of cases, and especially those with a long and heavy philtrum. The filler usually weighs down the upper lip, and gives it an unnatural projection and texture. It looks puffy, heavy and loses its definition. Moreover, as per VB’s lips in our opinion, it projects way beyond the lower lip and creates an obvious shadow in ordinary light. These are instant tell tale signs as to filler, because they rarely occur in nature. This post is only our opinion, but the hallmark of our clinics are undetectable work. We genuinely believe that natural and smaller... are better than larger and obviously worked upon. Of course each to his/her own. From the front, or in certain “selfie” lighting the patient might be persuaded that the lip looks thicker in a more positive way. But even a 45° facial angle shows that strange/unnatural projection that is more associated with Marge Simpson, than lips with prettier height and fullness. As such we think that VB is probably more a candidate for a surgical lip lift, if for example, she wished to show more vermilion or ‘pink’ in a natural way. Even a tiny alequot of filler in the lower lip can help to balance the profile beautifully, and balance a tauter smoother skin that matches its upper counter part. Cleft or scarred lips aside, we’ve never seen an upper lip filler only regime work out well.
